Hosted July 10-11 at Somerset Community College's Festival Field, Master Musicians Festival was named the Southeast Tourism Society’s Shining Example of the Year in 2013 and twice named as an STS Top Twenty Event. MMF is a premier event in the Lake Cumberland region and beyond. This festival has remained true to its roots, paying special tribute to “Master Musicians” who have devoted much of their lives to preserving their musical heritage and whose contributions have had a significant effect in their musical genre. Musicians such as Counting Crowes, Willie Nelson, Howard Doc Watson, Odetta, Vassar Clements, Guy Clark and J. D. Crowe have entertained thousands.
In appreciation of all of our loyal fans and friends who buy their tickets early, the first 500 weekend passes to the 2015 Master Musicians Festival will be sold for a low rate of $45! Once those 500 are gone, they are gone, so buy yours early!
This year we are selling full weekend passes only, and the pricing will increase as passes are sold. After the first 500, the next 1,000 available passes will be $55 each. When those are gone, passes will be $65 thru July 9th and gate prices (July 10th) will be $75.
This year's playlist includes headlining artist Dwight Yoakam, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck and Abigail Washurn, Quinn DeVeaux, Ben Sollee, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, Mandolin Orange, Billy Strings and Don Julin, Josh Nolan and more.
The lineup for the 22nd annual Master Musicians Festival has been announced. With a theme of "Kentucky Loud and Proud," Kentucky native and multiple GRAMMY Award winner Dwight Yoakam will headline a rich mix of country, Bluegrass, soul, rock and folk music. The festival will be July 10 & 11 in Somerset, Kentucky, at Somerset Community College's Festival Field.
Kentucky Artist Mark McFerron is MMF's 2015 feature visual artist. As we have every year, MMF will auction his original watercolor to help support and continue one of Kentucky's premier music festivals.
What follows is Mark's statement about his piece "For the Love of Music."
