The Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism is launching 99 Days of Summer, an interactive section of the website with travel suggestions for the 2016 summer season, starting May 30 and lasting through Labor Day weekend. 

Master Musicians Festival is featured on July 8 as the premier summer event in the Lake Cumberland region.

The Master Musicians Festival kicks off its 23rd year in blues-rock fashion by welcoming five-time GRAMMY nominated singer/guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band as its headliner, along with a lineup packed with Americana, rock, folk, bluegrass, country, soul and R&B masters. The two-day event, presented by Don Marshall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, returns to Somerset Community College’s Festival Field on July 8-9, 2016.

Dr. Jo Marshall, president and CEO of Somerset Community College, is the recipient of the 2015 Master Musicians Festival Lifetime Achievement Award.

The award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to his or her field and to the arts, and who provides continuing friendship and support to MMF. The presentation will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 11, during the festival. Past recipients include Cornelia Cooper and MMF founder Gabrielle Gray.

Heather Massey, music and drama teacher and musical director at Somerset High School, has been selected the 2015 Master Musicians Festival Music Educator of the Year.

FRANKFORT, Kentucky (May 1, 2015) – The Kentucky Travel Industry Association has selected the 2015 Master Musicians Festival one of its 2015 Summer Top Festivals & Events.

Hosted July 10-11 at Somerset Community College's Festival Field, Master Musicians Festival was named the Southeast Tourism Society’s Shining Example of the Year in 2013 and twice named as an STS Top Twenty Event. MMF is a premier event in the Lake Cumberland region and beyond.  This festival has remained true to its roots, paying special tribute to “Master Musicians” who have devoted much of their lives to preserving their musical heritage and whose contributions have had a significant effect in their musical genre. Musicians such as Counting Crowes, Willie Nelson, Howard Doc Watson, Odetta, Vassar Clements, Guy Clark and J. D. Crowe have entertained thousands. 

In appreciation of all of our loyal fans and friends who buy their tickets early, the first 500 weekend passes to the 2015 Master Musicians Festival will be sold for a low rate of $45! Once those 500 are gone, they are gone, so buy yours early!

This year we are selling full weekend passes only, and the pricing will increase as passes are sold. After the first 500, the next 1,000 available passes will be $55 each. When those are gone, passes will be $65 thru July 9th and gate prices (July 10th) will be $75.

Dwight Yoakam to headline MMF 2015!

The lineup for the 22nd annual Master Musicians Festival has been announced. With a theme of "Kentucky Loud and Proud," Kentucky native and multiple GRAMMY Award winner Dwight Yoakam will headline a rich mix of country, Bluegrass, soul, rock and folk music. The festival will be July 10 & 11 in Somerset, Kentucky, at Somerset Community College's Festival Field.
