Master Musicians Festival Announces 2nd Annual Young Songwriters Retreat

Full-day workshop offers immersive experience for budding musicians to learn from regional talent

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (April 6, 2026) — The Master Musicians Festival (MMF) has announced the 2nd Annual Young Songwriters Retreat, presented by Lake Cumberland Property Investments, Lake Cumberland Resort, and Discover Burnside. The retreat will take place during the 33rd Annual Master Musicians Festival in Somerset.

The program will bring together 15 aspiring songwriters, ages 10–20, for a one-day immersive experience on Saturday, July 18, during the festival.

Participants will attend live performances, take part in songwriting sessions, and engage in conversations with festival artists about their creative process and careers in the music industry. The retreat is designed to inspire and support the next generation of musicians while offering a behind-the-scenes look at the craft of
songwriting.

Participation in the Young Songwriters Retreat is free of charge. Each selected participant will receive two weekend festival passes for parents or guardians, with the option to purchase additional tickets. Children 12 and under receive free admission to the festival.

“Young songwriters are the future of music, and we are excited to give them the opportunity to learn directly from professional artists while experiencing the energy of the festival,” said Tiffany Finley, Executive Director of the Master Musicians Festival.

Applications are open now, and interested participants are encouraged to apply by May 1. Only 15 applicants will be selected for this year’s retreat.
